Create a Unique Bathroom Space with Handmade Bath Products

Often is the case that a home’s bathroom is deprived of the same design consideration as the larger family spaces. As well the bathroom is a home space regularly overlooked when it comes to applying the kinds of personal touches a homeowner normally affords a bedroom. The result, a bland and sometimes even cold feeling in the space that, in all honestly, should be one of the most inviting rooms in the home. It is a real travesty that does not need to be.
The small size of the bathroom space can be very intimidating to the amateur home decorator who is typically thinking more about functionality than creating a warm and inviting area. But both a personal style and function can be obtained with a little help from some handmade bath products rather than surrendering to the mass production accessories offered at the major home decor chains and department stores. Despite their compact size, there is actually a great deal of personalization that can be brought to the bathroom space with a little thinking outside the box.

The first step in creating a unique bathroom space is to break away from the traditional toilet, bathtub and sink, sterile room mentality and come up with an inviting theme, maybe even something a bit non-conventional. Once able to break away from the time honored bathroom décor conventions, there is no limit to how or with what a bathroom space can be accessorized.

With a theme is decided and a color pallet chosen, cabinetry hardware is next on the agenda. The number of cabinet door and drawer knob and handle choices are endless and there is a metal finish available to suite virtually every motif. And if new hardware is not desirable, there is an abundant amount of antique and vintage hardware and fixtures that can be obtained, all it takes is a little bit of patience and some extra time to locate the perfect pieces.

Finally, it is time to accessorize. This is another great opportunity to stay with the non-conventional by selecting handmade bath products to decorate and accessorize the bathroom space. From antique counter canisters and blinged out brush holders to zany tissue dispensers and elegant soap trays, not only does accessorizing the space with quality handmade items bring a uniqueness to the bathroom space, but they also create a one of a kind look that would be nearly impossible to replicate.

There is really no good argument that can be made for creating a vanilla wrapped bathroom space. With a little creativity and a few handmade bathroom accessories, this space can be just as dynamic in design as any other space in a home.
